Desktop app and mobile
Kosuke runs in any browser at app.kosuke.ai. On a Mac you can also install the desktop app, which adds a menu-bar menu for your chat sessions. On other computers and on phones, you can install Kosuke from the browser so it opens in its own window.
Install the macOS desktop app
- Download the installer from
app.kosuke.ai/releases/desktop/stable/download.
It is a
.dmgfile that runs on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. - Open the
.dmgfile and move Kosuke into your Applications folder. - Open Kosuke. The app is not signed with an Apple developer certificate, so macOS asks you to allow it the first time. If macOS refuses to open it, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway.
- Sign in as you do on the web.
The window shows the same app as app.kosuke.ai. Links to pull requests, previews and the docs open in your default browser.
Use the menu-bar menu
Closing the window hides it. Kosuke keeps running in the menu bar, and clicking its icon opens the menu.

"Your sessions" are the sessions you are the Assignee of. Each session list shows up to six. Pick a session or project to open it in the window.
Update the desktop app
The app downloads and installs new versions on its own. When one is ready, an Update ready card appears in the sidebar. Press Restart to update, or choose the Restart to Update item in the menu-bar menu, which names the new version. Your sessions keep running while the app restarts.
Install Kosuke from your browser
You can install the web app so it opens in its own window and starts on your Projects page.
- In Chrome or Edge on a computer, open app.kosuke.ai and use the browser's install option.
- On Android, open app.kosuke.ai in Chrome and install it from the browser menu.
- On an iPhone or iPad, open app.kosuke.ai in Safari, press Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Kosuke needs a network connection. Without one, the installed app shows "You are offline" and a Try again button.
Use Kosuke on a phone
Below 768 pixels wide, Kosuke switches to a phone layout.
- The sidebar opens as a panel from the side of the screen.
- The board shows one status at a time. A row of status chips at the top switches between them, Archived included.
- A session card's actions open as a sheet from the bottom of the screen. Its Move to list says what each move does, such as "starts a sandbox" or "destroys the sandbox". A move you cannot make stays greyed out with the reason beside it.
- A chat session shows one view at a time: Chat, Preview, or Artifacts when the session has any. A row at the bottom of the screen switches between them. Press the back arrow to return to the board.
- A project's Settings view shows the Deploy Chat or the project's settings, one at a time, with a row at the bottom of the screen to switch. You pick the settings tab from a menu.
The Changes and Files tabs of a session need a wider screen.
